CI VEX CRX Robotics at the Taipei 2016 Competition!
December 4, 2016
Hello from Taipei! We are very excited to share with you the following update from our mission in this brilliant and energetic city.
After two very loooong days of competitions, tense moments, successes, failures, iterations, and a mix of other activities and emotions, we are very happy to share that one of our teams, CI Robotics Middle School VEX Robotics Team CRX 6724D WON THE HIGHEST AWARD GIVEN AT VEX COMPETITIONS: The Excellence Award!
The proud members of CI Robotics' Team CRX 6724D are: Minsoo Park, David Jeong, Jessica Park, Jeff Park, and James Park (Jay Cheong is also part of the team but he did not join the trip) -- all Grade 8 students.
The Excellence Award is given to the team that best fulfills the following:
All other teams did very well during the qualification matches. Four out of our five teams made it up to the Pre-Final matches: MS Team 6724 (Daniel Shin, Kevin Lee, and Heidi Yoon), US Team 6724C (John Yoon, Danny Yang, and James Lee) and US Team 6724E (David Park and Younjin Lee). Daniel Cho and Rex Choi (US Team 6724B) are new-comers in robotics and we are very proud that they competed and did their best. Three teams made it up to the semi-finals matches: 6724, 6724C and 6724D. Unfortunately, an accumulation of technical issues and other errors led to the failure of the robots during the semi-final matches.
Overall, we are all proud of our students, especially Team 6724D, for a brilliant demonstration of sportsmanship, teamwork, collaboration, STEM knowledge and experience, and above all, excellence in their passion and interest.
Thank you very much to all for supporting and believing in the CI US Robotics Club and MS Activity.

- High rank in the robotics matches. Team 6724D was Rank #1 after all qualifying matches. The team accumulated the highest total score among all 36 Middle and High School teams at the event. They won all their alliance matches and had the highest score as well in other categories of the games.
- Overall solid robot design, construction, and programming
- Overall total score in driver skills and programming
- Top choice by judges at the competition
- Demonstrated excellence in the robot-building process
- Demonstrated excellence in the team's Design and Engineering Notebook
- Demonstrated excellence in the team interviews (everyone had their turn to speak — further demonstrating collaboration and cooperation within the group in the robot design and build process)
- Demonstrated impressive sportsmanship and teamwork in all aspects of the competition

CI VEX CRX Robotics at the Tokyo 2016 Competition!
CRX Team 6724, 6724B, 6724C and 6724D marched into the VEX Robotics Tokyo 2016 competition with their robots and their skills.
CI-Robotics teams take home THREE Major Trophies from the 4th VEX Robotics Korea Championship (January 23, 2016)
After a very long day of robotics competitions, we are very happy and proud to share the following accomplishments of our amazing students:
1) Upper School Team #6724 (Seungjin Yang, Kevin Yang, JinSeong Kim, Hwarang Kim, and James Kim -- Natalie Lee is also a member of this team but was unable to attend the event) won the highest award at the national championship: The Excellence Award. This qualifies our school to send a team of students to the VEX Robotics World Competition in Kentucky, USA this April as the official South Korea representative. (This is the third time our school has won this prestigious award.)
2) Upper School Team #6724D (Simon Kim, Matthew Ma, David Park, Yoorae Kim, and YoonJong Jo -- Alex Chen is also a member of this team but was unable to attend the event) won the Tournament Champion Award for placing first overall and having the highest total score in all the robotics matches.
3) Middle School Team #6724K (David Jeong, Jay Cheong, Minsoo Park, and James Park -- Keenan Evans and Thomas Bayly are also members of this team but were unable to attend the event) won the Design Award -- which is given to the team with the most innovative robotics design in the championship -- their team received the most votes from participants and judges.
Thank you very much to the chaperones at the robotics event: Danny Crescenti, Rosanna Luzarraga, Kurt Amundson, and Jacqui Jung. It was an intense and long day -- thank you for your support and patience.
Thank you all for supporting our students' interest and passion in robotics.

VEX IQ Students at the January 23, 2016 Korea Championship!
Support your CI-Robotics Teams at the VEX Robotics Korea Championship — January 23, 2016, Gwacheon National Science Museum. Hope to see you there!

The CI Robotics Program at Chadwick International spans from the Village School (Grades 4-5) to the Middle (Grades 6-8) and Upper Schools (Grades 9-12).
|
Using the VEX IQ (VS) and VEX EDR (MS & US) systems, students, with guidance from their teachers and mentors, use the VEX Robotics System to build innovative robots designed to score the most points possible in matches played at local and international tournaments. The robots we build use computers known as microcontrollers to control what the robot does. Team members will need to develop software or "code" that runs on these microcontrollers. More information on the VEX system and the VEX Robotics competition can be found at www.vexrobotics.com.
We build robots following a design cycle in a cooperative atmosphere that supports the mission of VEX and the Robotics Education and Competition Foundation (RECF): "... to help students acquire real world life skills that will benefit them in their academic and professional future." The RECF seeks to increase student interest and involvement in science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM) by engaging students in hands-on, sustainable and affordable curriculum based robotics engineering programs across the U.S. and internationally. |
